The United States Fleet Forces Band Uncharted Waters visited Phase II’s Pan Theatre earlier this month and got a pan masterclass from its founder, leader and arranger, Len Boogsie Sharpe. Sharpe played on double seconds for the band and jammed with one of their saxophone players.
The Americans were in TT as part of what they call Continuing Promise 2023, a US Navy exchange program with the nations in this hemisphere that included music and medical outreach.
Uncharted Waters also treated music students from the University of the West Indies and the University of Trinidad and Tobago to a masterclass. The mission included performances at free concerts across TT, and a music collaboration with the T&T Regiment Band playing Kes’ Savannah Grass.
